The legend of the rose

You have probably already heard of the famous 1000-year-old rosebush. The legend of the rose at the apsis of the Cathedral goes back to a moment of carelessness on the part of Louis the Pious, who fastened his St. Mary's reliquary to a bush to pray and then forgot it there. When he went back to retrieve it, it was firmly intertwined with the bush, a rosebush. Louis the Pious did justice to his name and build a chapel on the spot, the birthplace of the bishopric and the city of Hildesheim.
